Three sports question templates

Fill in the bracketed details from an official record before you add these to a game.

Which city hosted [named event and year]?
Use the organiser’s venue record, not the location of its headquarters.
Which team won [named competition, division and season]?
Use the completed results and specify which team category the question concerns.
Which item of equipment is shown here?
Use a clear image you can share and check whether more than one sport uses that item.

Work from the record to the question

This is especially useful for contributors who follow different sports.

  1. Find the official result

Use the governing body, league or event organiser’s own record.

  2. Copy the context into your notes

Keep the event name, category, date and source together. Do not shorten away a qualifier that changes the answer.

  3. Add fair alternatives

Use teams, cities or equipment names of the same type. Explain any unfamiliar competition at the reveal.

Give the specialist only part of the round

Ask different Playloop contributors for different sports, with one accessible clue each. Include something about a venue or piece of equipment alongside a result.

For a club gathering, a permitted team photograph can add a personal question. Avoid asking guests to settle disputed officiating or to compare individual club members’ performance. If you use a current record, include the date and recheck it near the game; completed events are easier to reuse.
