Collect the photos without spoiling them
A photo shared in the group chat has already been guessed.
Ask privately
Message each person or ask them to add their own photo as a contributed question, so nobody else sees it during preparation.
Ask permission
Only use photos the person in them is happy to show. Offer a pet or holiday photo as an alternative.
Crop the giveaways
Remove a familiar house, a sibling’s face or a date stamp. Keep the face large and clear.
Describe the image
Add a short description, such as “A toddler in a red hat on a beach”, for anyone who cannot see it clearly.
Write fair name choices
Wrong names should be people in the room who could plausibly match the photo.
- Use four names from the guests who are playing.
- Avoid choices that rule themselves out by age or era of the photo.
- Rotate the names so the same person is not always a wrong option.
- Ask the author to answer someone else’s photo question, not their own.
Make the reveal the moment
After each answer, invite the person in the photo to tell one line about it: where it was taken or what they were doing. That turns a recognition game into a round of stories.
In Playloop, add each photo as an image on a single-choice question. Test one on a phone before the event to check the face is still recognisable at that size.
