Give the cook control of the timing

Agree who will operate the game if the person cooking needs to leave the table.

  1. Before guests arrive

Ask each guest for one question about food, a place or an interest. Confirm the answers in advance.

  2. After a course

Explain the joining process once and begin with a short, accessible opener. Keep devices clear of food and drinks.

  3. When the kitchen is ready

Pause between questions. There is no need to keep playing while someone serves or clears the table.

Questions that can lead to a conversation

Use the meal or guests’ interests as material, with permission from anyone involved.

Which herb gives this recipe its distinctive flavour?
Use the actual recipe and ensure the answer is clear from what the cook used.
Which city did we first try this dish in together?
Check the shared memory and add enough context for other guests.
Which cuisine should we cook together next time?
Use an unscored poll and let people discuss dietary needs separately.

Share the question writing

Playloop keeps each contributor’s saved questions concealed during preparation, so the organiser can join in. Choose the own-question scoring rule before you start.

Food preferences and recipe variations can be subjective. Ask about a named recipe, ingredient list or shared meal instead of claiming there is only one authentic way to make a dish. Keep discussion friendly and have a non-food topic ready for anyone who would prefer it.
